Our Permanent Fosters
Meet all our permanent foster hedgehogs at Happy Quills, whose journey to forever homes has led them to the loving embrace of dedicated foster carers. Please consider sponsoring these spiky companions to help play a vital role in ensuring their continued care and happiness. Your support can make a lasting difference in their lives at our rescue.

Polly Pocket
Polly Pocket joined Happy Quills 11/2/25. Polly was underweight at 290g due to dental issues, namely gingivitis, plus she had a lump in her mouth , which was confirmed as cancerous on 21/2/25. In a week she put on 35g. As she still is active and has proven herself to be a fighter, it was decided to remove as much of the lump as possible to give her some precious extra time.
She will remain as a permanent foster with Happy Quills . She will require medication for the rest of her life, and frequent vet check ups to watch her progress in order to let her lead her best life.

Dolly
Dolly (was Peanut) joined Happy Quills 29/3/25. Dolly is a small girl with beautiful autumnal colouring. Dolly was handed in with malnutrition, causing quill loss and severe dental issues. With your kind donations we have paid for her to have several teeth removed, as well as antibiotics for a mouth infection, so hopefully she will be feeling much more comfortable soon and continue to put on weight. She is very wary of humans, but her foster mum is lavishing her with love to try and win her round.

Whinston
Joined Happy Quills 3/5/25. He was 4 when he was handed in, so due to his age has been kept as a permanent foster. He has settled in well and has switched to a different food mix easily, rather than the poor quality one he was on.
He is quite huffy, but inquisitive. He likes his wheel and tunnel. He also likes to keep his viv nice and clean, no messy wheels thank you very much!
He is not a fan of bath time though, showing his dissent by rocking the angry eyebrow look.

Ruby
Ruby the tenrec joined Happy Quills 1/6/25. She was handed in with some health issues that need resolved before we decided if she would be suitable for adoption or become a permanent foster. She was put on a course of antibiotics for a respiratory infection and an eye infection. Ruby recovered well from her respiratory infection and put on some much needed weight. Her eye infection, whilst showing signs of improvement, still needs daily eyedrops and antibiotics and the vet believes there is scarring on that eye so the infections will be a reoccuring problem for the rest of her life. For that reason, Ruby has been made a permanent foster at Happy Quills.
Ruby is only 4 and tenrecs tend to live up to 10 plus in captivity. If you would like to help with her ongoing monthly vet bills please fill out a sponsorship form.
