Adoption Pending

Bailey

Location: Thornton-Cleveleys
Age:  3 years old
Species: African Pygmy Hedgehog

About:  Joined Happy Quills 29/3/25. Bailey is a little chunk, but totally adorable with it. He loves freshly washed hair, chicken and scrambled egg. Needs encouragement to continue eating bugs as these are new to his diet.

He suffers from dry skin as he was previously kept on shavings, but oatmeal baths and leucillin are helping.

He can be huffy when first woken (who isn't?) and is not a big fan of strokes. However he has a very sweet and inquisitive nature and loves looking out of his viv glass watching the world go by.

His foster carer is going to find it hard parting with this bundle of personality.

Suitable for:  Experienced or confident owner

Hedgy

Location: Reading
Age:  1-2 years approx based on numerous factors
Species: APH

About:  Joined Happy Quills 11/1/25. Hedgy came to Happy Quills underweight and suffering severe skin problems that even the vet could not find a solution for, so we made him a permanent foster. However, we moved him to one of our carers who runs a wildie rescue and she has miraculously managed to resolve his skin issues utilising her extensive knowledge. He is still a small guy, but his weight is now stable. Since his issues are now resolved we have made an unprecedented move and decided that he will now no longer be a permanent foster, but will get the chance to get his own forever home.

Likes: sniffing hair, wormies, toilet rolls, liner diving and running around the room like a loon

Dislikes: Anything resembling a proper bed to sleep in, being woken up.

Hedgy will need an Aveeno sensitive baby or oatmeal soak bath every two weeks with gentle toothbrush brushing and a thorough rinse in order to maintain his current skin condition and prevent his old skin issues resurfacing.

Available for Adoption

Hamish

Location: Burnley
Age:  6 years
Species: LEH

About:  Joined Happy Quills 4/5/25. Hamish is a lively older gentleman who loves nothing more than running on his wheel. He’s been known to run more than 7 hours in one night, only taking short breaks for drinks and snacks! Sometimes he can over do it and make his feet sore so this needs to be monitored. He loves wax worms, meal worms and crickets and likes to be challenged to find these in foraging trays or using treat puzzle toys. He doesn’t mind a bath but isn’t very happy when his tummy needs a good scrub! He’s a clever boy and will get used to your routines. He’s isn’t so much a cuddler but does like to be carried around with his head poking out so he can nosey and see what is going on. He loves to dig but hasn’t quite figured out how to use a sand tray yet so he needs some loose bedding or fleece strips to be able to dig around in. To help him burn off some energy, he needs a larger enclosure and/or good space to run around supervised in an evening before going back into his viv. He is very friendly but he does like to protect his own space in the vivarium and will charge at you if you invade his side (he never bites its all a front), particularly in the middle of the night and likes to try and chase his foster carer off while she’s cleaning his vivarium or grab the wipes to hinder progress! He moves his toys around a lot in the night and likes them to be changed around regularly to keep him interested.
